The essence of traveling isn’t just about the destination but also the journey. While New Orleans intoxicates with its jazz, history, and Creole culture, Austin, the "Live Music Capital of the World", draws with its vibrant music scenes, tech hubs, and rich Texan heritage. Yet, before you sway to the melodies of these cities, there's a crucial travel aspect to address: airport parking.

Serving as the primary gateway to the cultural potpourri that is New Orleans, MSY plays host to millions of passengers each year. While it's equipped with modern amenities to ensure a pleasant experience for travelers, this guide focuses on those flying out of New Orleans and landing in Austin.

Parking at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)

Austin's primary airport, Austin-Bergstrom International, caters to a thriving business community and a growing number of tourists. As with any busy airport, parking can be a concern. That said, there are several options available for travelers:

1. Garage Parking: The airport offers both close-in garage parking and economy garage options. Close-in garage parking, adjacent to the terminals, is suitable for short trips, while economy options, though farther out, offer cost savings for longer durations.

2. Long-Term & Short-Term Lots: Depending on your trip's length, you can opt for surface lots dedicated to short or long-term stays. Shuttle service ensures travelers can reach the terminal with ease from these lots.

3. Valet Parking: For those in a rush or seeking a touch of luxury, AUS offers valet services.

4. Cell Phone Lot: Ideal for those waiting to pick up arriving passengers, this lot is free but doesn't allow unattended vehicles.

But why settle for on-site options when you could leverage better deals and convenience off-site? This brings us to the game-changer: OneStopParking.com.

Sometimes, Airport hotels offer the best parking options:

Hotel Park and Fly packages

Hotels near major airports often offer "Park and Fly" or "Stay and Park" packages. These deals are especially convenient for travelers with early departures or late returns, as they bundle the convenience of nearby accommodation with the benefit of extended parking.

For those using the New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY), several nearby hotels provide these packages. As of my last update in January 2022, here are some prominent ones:

1. Hilton New Orleans Airport

Location: Situated directly across from MSY, offering quick access and a complimentary shuttle service to and from the terminal.

Parking Deal: Their "Park, Stay, and Go" package allows guests to leave their car in the hotel's secured lot for an extended period after their overnight stay. The exact duration and rates can fluctuate, so contacting the hotel directly or checking their website is recommended.

2. Radisson Hotel New Orleans Airport

Location: Only a few minutes' drive from the airport and also provides a complimentary shuttle service.

Parking Deal: Radisson has occasionally offered parking packages which allow guests to leave their vehicle for extended periods after their stay. The specifics can differ based on promotions and availability.

3. Days Inn by Wyndham New Orleans Airport

Location: Located very close to MSY and offers a free airport shuttle.

Parking Deal: This hotel has often provided packages that combine an overnight stay with extended parking deals, making it suitable for those on longer trips.

4. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Orleans Airport

Location: A short shuttle distance from MSY.

Parking Deal: DoubleTree typically offers "Park and Fly" packages, making it convenient for travelers wanting to combine a restful pre-flight night with the ease of parking.

5. Best Western Plus New Orleans Airport Hotel

Location: Located in proximity to the airport.

Parking Deal: They have packages that can be more cost-effective for travelers looking to pair accommodation with extended parking.

Points to Consider:

Availability: Not all "Park and Fly" deals are available throughout the year. Some may be seasonal, promotional, or subject to black-out dates. Therefore, it's always beneficial to check in advance and make reservations accordingly.

Cost-Effectiveness: While these packages can offer savings compared to booking a hotel room and airport parking separately, travelers should still compare rates to ensure they're securing the best deal.

Safety: One of the main advantages of these deals is the security provided by hotel parking lots. However, always ask about the security measures in place, especially if leaving a vehicle for a long time.

Shuttle Service: Most of these hotels offer shuttle services to the airport, which adds convenience. It's worth checking the shuttle's operational hours and frequency.
