Parking Information For Calgary (YYC) Airport
The Calgary International
Airport has come a long way from its humble beginnings in
1914. It served a population of 70,000 people from a grass airstrip and a shack
that doubled as a hangar and terminal. In 1938 it moved to its current
location. Around 1966 it officially became the Calgary International Airport
(YYC). Today, YYC serves a population of 1.3 million people with 18 million domestic and international passengers moving
through the airport in 2019.
The Calgary International Airport has grown to be the fourth busiest airport in Canada. Busy airports mean busy parking lots. This guide will help you plan your parking needs before your next flight.
On-Site Calgary Airport Parking
The Calgary International Airport provides
many options to park on-site whether you are there for a quick business trip or
a lengthy vacation. You have your choice between:
●
Short-term parking (P1/P2)
●
Long-term parking (P1/P2)
●
Overheight parking
●
Economy lot
●
Cell phone lot
●
Electrical vehicle parking
●
Accessible parking
Short-term Parking (P1/P2)
There are short-term parking levels in both
the P1 and P2 parking structures. Even though these parking lots allow you to
leave your vehicle for up to 30 days it is recommended to only use short-term
parking for dropping off or picking up passengers.
The short-term parking lots also have a height restriction of 6.5 feet. Larger vehicles or vehicles with large roof racks may not fit.
Long-term Parking (P1/P2)
Long-term parking can be found in parking
structures P1 and P2 on levels P2, P4, P5, P6, and P7. The maximum length of
stay is 60 days. The height restriction is 6.5 feet, which makes it unsuitable
for larger vehicles or vehicles with roof racks.
Domestic travellers should park in parkade 1 (P1). This will provide you closest access to the domestic terminal.
International travellers, or travellers bound for the United States, should park in parkade 2 (P2). Level 4 of the P2 parking structure provides a bridge (Plus 30 Skywalk) over to the terminal. Alternatively, there is a pedestrian tunnel over to the terminal. The Airport Authority discourages passengers from crossing the roadway to reach the terminal.
Long-term parking has a daily maximum rate of $27.95 CAD and a weekly maximum of $119.95 CAD.
Overheight Parking
Overheight parking can be accessed next to the
entrance of the P1 parking structure. Rates are similar to the long-term
parkade except for a reduced day rate of $14.95 CAD after your first week.
Economy Lot
If you are a traveller on a budget that still
wants to be close to the terminal then this lot is for you. It is a 7-10 minute
walk to the domestic terminal. There is no shuttle service but luggage carts
are available.
The economy lot only offers daily or weekly rates. There are no hourly rates available. The daily maximum is $14.95 CAD and the weekly rate is $64.95 CAD.
Cell Phone Lot
This lot is to be used by drivers picking up
arriving passengers. The passenger is expected to pick up their luggage and
phone their awaiting driver when they have reached one of the five designated
pick-up spots. Drivers may not stay more than 60 minutes in the cell phone lot.
There is no fee.
Electrical Vehicle Parking
The Calgary International Airport provides
limited spots in parking structure P1, on level 4, for travellers requiring EV
charging. There are four universal and eight Tesla Electric Vehicle charging
stations. Long-term parking fees apply. EV charging is included.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is in parking structures
P1, P2 and overheight parking. Vehicles must display their accessible parking
permit. Standard parking fees apply.
